The Rowayton Civic Association has always had one simple goal - to strengthen the bonds that make our community special. For generations, the RCA has served as the heartbeat of Rowayton, connecting neighbors through events, improving the spaces we share, and supporting the organizations that shape everyday life. The RCA’s purpose has always been rooted in one idea: Investing in Rowayton.
In 2025, that commitment came to life in powerful ways. It was a year of energy, engagement, and record participation across the community. From evenings filled with laughter at Comedy Night, to the timeless fun of River Ramble, to the geniality of Turkey Trot, and to the magic of our new event, the Holiday Stroll - Rowayton always shows up. Together, these magical events coupled with the generous support of our community made it possible for the RCA to give back nearly $175,000 to local schools, nonprofits, students and initiatives, with each gift dedicated to improving the lives of those who call Rowayton home.

Further support for education focused on academic and personal success of Norwalk students. An RCA grant funded summer education programs offered by Horizons at CT State Norwalk preparing students for success. We funded the Norwalk Education Fund for an instructor to help local students write effective college application essays. The RCA provided a grant to The Carver program called “After The Bell” offering daily academic support, social-emotional learning, wellness, and enrichment activities to elementary school students. We also funded the Norwalk Mentor Program to enable students in need to access adult mentors for over 400 K-12 students.
Our support extended well beyond the classroom. The Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society used its RCA grant to fund the purchase of a new 22-person water taxi, giving residents an opportunity to experience our coastal environment firsthand. Bayley Beach and Pinkney Park were outfitted with water bottle refilling stations financed by RCA grants. The Rowayton Gardeners were awarded funds to enhance their presence around town. Lastly, the Rowayton Fire Department received funding for a new digger boat, strengthening their readiness to protect our residents along our shoreline.
Those dollars tell a story of impact. The Rowayton Library received funding toward museum passes, craft materials, and new iPads, ensuring that families have access to enriching experiences. Historic Rowayton funds will help transform the 18th-century barn in Pinkney Park into a vibrant, interactive exhibit connecting residents and visitors to over 300 years of local history. Open Doors was awarded funding to bolster their critical efforts addressing poverty and homelessness in Norwalk.
Education remained at the center of our efforts. Rowayton Elementary School received funding for assemblies, musical enrichment programs, and community events like the Walk-a-thon and Bingo Night. We supported programs at Brien McMahon High School and Roton Middle School to directly improve the student experience with uniforms for student athletes, photography projects, and Roton’s new “Caring Corner” providing clean clothes and hygiene supplies for students in need.

Rowayton’s creative and cultural life also benefitted in 2025. The Rowayton Farmers Market received RCA support to help this Friday tradition remain a centerpiece of local life. We continued our partnership with Shakespeare on the Sound to bring classic literature and performance and connect a new generation with the performing arts. The RCA also supported the Pro Skills Series offered by the Rowayton Arts Center, a program helping local artists hone their skills free of charge.
The RCA’s impact was further amplified this year by our partnership with JAM Studios to produce one of Rowayton’s favorite traditions: PorchJam. JAM Studios donated $160,000 in proceeds from PorchJam to groups supporting arts and music. Recipients included arts and music-oriented organizations affiliated with Rowayton Elementary School, Roton Middle School, and Brien McMahon High School. JAM Studios also provided support to Art Monster Studio and Kids Empowered By Your Support. The RCA is proud to be stepping into a larger role in this cherished event going forward, so stay tuned.
Each of these efforts, large and small, adds up to something bigger. It is the story of a community that believes in itself. A place where people take pride in working together, celebrating together, and giving back together.
As we look ahead to 2026, the RCA is preparing to launch its Annual Appeal, a renewed commitment to invest in the people, programs, and public spaces that define Rowayton’s character. Every dollar raised stays in our community, fueling the next wave of ideas, events, and improvements that make our village such a remarkable place to live.
Because, in the end, the RCA is not just about hosting events. It is about building connection, purpose, and pride in our community. It is about making sure that Rowayton continues to move forward while keeping its heart, its culture, and its sense of community stronger than ever.
Our work is made possible by the support of businesses and organizations that share our commitment to Rowayton. We're proud to partner with the following groups:
